Associate Professor Dr. Kurtuluş Gemici, who is currently serving in the Department of Sociology at Zhejiang University—one of the leading universities in the People's Republic of China and worldwide—delivered a seminar titled “From the Science of Wealth and Distribution to the Science of Exchange: Historical Origins of the Privileged Position of the Market in Neoclassical Economics” on Tuesday, May 22, 2024. The seminar was organized jointly with the Sociology Department of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences of our Department. Dr. Gemici provided an insightful presentation on the scope and limitations of the theories advanced by Menger, Jevons, and Walras, the founding figures of neoclassical economic theory. Following the presentation, our faculty members and students engaged with Dr. Gemici by posing various questions. At the conclusion of the event, our Dean, Prof. Dr. Ahmet Ferda Çakmak, presented a certificate of appreciation to Associate Professor Dr. Kurtuluş Gemici.
